£12.00This project re-presents flat, paper-clip shapes into a series of abstract compositions through processes of amplification, modification and animation. Sourced from catalogues, coloured paper and found, pre-printed materials, the content here evokes the sculptural language of modernist and constructivist movements, by breathing life into line and plane. Presented in-the-round within these pages, the scanned clips alternate between recto and verso, creating a noticeably tactile reading experience. The use of lightweight paper enables each printed image to hint at its inverse, offering a fleeting vision of the other side. This multi-dimensional presentation method ensures that with every turn of the page, a premonition is fulfilled and a memory fades.
Breaking away from conventional scholarly formats, ‘Other Wise’ invites the reader to explore roughly 16 square feet of folded paper with a spirit of adventure. These expansive, 12-page exhibitions communicate ideas entirely through imagery rather than text, encouraging audiences to interpret the work independently. Embracing an anti-didactic approach, the creators intend for the experience to serve as a visual springboard for the reader’s own imagination.
