£12.00Other Wise is a new series of artworks in multiple form, published by Open Editions. Sara MacKillop has produced the first in a sequence of twelve projects by responding to the simple invitation to create a new time-based work within the space of twelve large format printed pages. Eleven other artists will be invited to take on the same challenge over the coming years.
In a break with conventional scholarly, or literary, methods the Other Wise reader/viewer is invited to approach approximately 16 square feet of folded paper space with a spirit of adventure. These twelve-page exhibitions convey their ideas as images rather than words. Audiences are accordingly forced to figure out what is being said for themselves. And, in a further remove from didacticism, the authors are insistent that their readership make their own interpretations, or even use their reading experience as a springboard for thinking about something beyond what is being observed.
